I'm not trail bike averse, or hatchback averse (I have a couple of Golf R's) but surely as the hatchback has made way for the little SUV as the multipurpose vehicle, surely trail bikes are giving way to the emtb as the "do it all mtb" for many? My personal fleet now doesn't feature a typical trail bike, few enduro bikes, ebike and I might be tempted by a "down country" rig, but not sure a middle of the road trail bike will feature again.

I like it. My only issue is that I always have a trailer attached to my bike when I am riding. So how can I take an existing trailer and attach it to use with this bike?

I recently picked up a TCR adv 2 rim brake model. $1800 new. Ive always ridden steel road bikes. Columbus tubing, Reynolds 853, etc. And while these bikes aren't cheap either, to me they just make sense because a nice steel frame holds its value like a nice watch. Where carbon frames seem to depreciate faster than my iPhone. But with a complete build at $1800, the value proposition suddenly made more sense to me. Something fun, stiff, light. Still an expendable carbon item that will wear out, but at a cost I can justify for a wearable item. After I swapped in my lighter wheels, my saddle and an ultegra crank, the build weight came in at 16.5 lbs. No problem dropping an Aethos on the local climbs. To me this is what a carbon road bike should be. Fast enough to hammer up the climb, yet still cheap enough to not worry about a crash or leaving it unattended for a minute or two at the cafe.

I started on a good budget hardtail. Boardman mtb. Still one of my favourite bikes. Because I was used to that I didn’t think I needed massive travel full sus bike. I opted for a giant anthem sx1. I could follow the club rides on almost everything they did. Don’t need huge suspension unless as others have said gnarly downhill or bike parks.

guarantee 99% of us are not riding black/double black diamonds on the daily. a trail bike or even a modern hard tail is more than enough bike.

I have 160/150 Almnt bike. No I cant do all. Not great in bike parks, absolutely not great on XC track . Ideal combo for active biker is one Downcountry and one Downhill bike.

Agree. A modern trailbike is capable enough on anything but dh tracks or blown out bikeparks while being a lot zippier and more fun on flatter terrain than a full blown enduro bike. I ditched my nomad for a 5010 for the pedal days and a v10 for the bikeparks/riding dh tracks. Enduro bikes have IMO become a dog’s dinner that lacks both the playfulness of a trailbike and the capability of a dh bike, which is only a pound or so heavier these days. Only makes sense when there’s plenty of gnar without lift access but in that case I’d go for an ebike.

It’s gotta be the XC fully for me. With some ultra light semi slicks, I can take it to a gravel event, and with a modern XC tire combo, I can conquer almost all of my easy-to-medium difficulty local terrain. Slapping a something like a Forekaster on the front allows me to tackle the more technical bits too, and I don’t have to be afraid of some mud either.

There is no way in hell I’m using a pressure washer on any of my bikes! I would also water down the degreasers 10/1 before applying to any part of my bike.

Washing is enjoyment when you have 3 things: backyard, water hose and bike stand. But while living in appartment I don't have an option of using pressure sprayer and bike stand when outside, and I don't have a car to carry all that stuff somewhere.
